Currently, the set of features for the Carousel is fairly small, with activeIndex being the only option offered. There are a few other features that would be extremely useful, if added, that would make the Carousel quite compelling to use.
For example, a full-screen option (with a placable, user-defined fullscreen icon that would toggle the state), and the ability to add customizable overlay "left" and "right" areas on top of the image (for example, the left-right arrows on Facebook) that, beyond just catching the click on the left and right (these already exist with the Carousel widget) to cycle through the images.
Some other "nice-to-haves" would be something like a preview area below the actual image where thumbnail images for those in the slideshow could be presented, which would provide an alternate way for the users to navigate through the slideshow.
This issue / feature request is kind of cursory just to open up the topic, as I'm not sure whether these things are already in the works or not. I'm happy to provide more detail, as needed.
