The current methodology for naming a particular pixel in the Spatial CIMIS gird is by row and colum number. This is not a good solution for a number of reasons. It's dependant on the size of the grid, which has changed in the past, and it doesn't account for the spatial resolution of the pixel, which now varies. here we will develop a naming scheme for pixels that is consistent for data in the CA Albers projection, is directly tied to the origin, and can include multiple pixel resolutions.
This will allow for more unambiguous names for each pixel in both the 2km and the 500m standard grids that are used in the Spatial CIMIS program.
