For 24V systems, the maximum voltage ratings of T2 base are exceeded, which leads to excessive current draw.

Preliminary solutions:

Replace T2 with NMOS (e.g. BSS138)
Remove T2 completely (and use only low voltage side for power supply)

Permanent fix yet to be developed.
