Hello, greetings and thankyou for creating this issue 😃 . I have know this limitation for sometime and would try to work on it as soon as I can find some badwidth.

Meanwhile, (contributions are welcome by the way 🥇 ) I propose a simple workaround. Populate all empty cells with 'NaN', NA or empty delimiter like single space . This could easily be done with sheets consitional formatting, or regex search, replace. There are also some clever ways using sheets inbuilt functions and google app script.
