See how this is done in the RMG website at
https://github.com/ReactionMechanismGenerator/RMG-website/blob/master/rmgweb/main/templatetags/render_thermo.py#L273

Requires user authentication and the user defines their preferred units, then we register a custom template filter in templatetags.
