Struggling with Image/File Embedding

Hi! I'm very new to Obsidian (2 days of use, and I love it already!) but was wondering if I could have some help with this issue.

I've been using this plugin to annotate some pdf slides for school, and wanted to include some images from the internet. I checked the markdown and it was fine in base obsidian notes, but the image links become broken/nonvisible when I insert them into my notes. This seems to be the case for base links too when I include links to the same images in the notes as well.

Is there any reason why obsidian-annotator specifically might be struggling with markdown for external images and external links, and if so, how might I be able to solve this? Thank you for any help on this :)
