I can see the snoopy operator being extremely useful for validating service mesh environments. A profile may be the best way to address this this.
Scenario:
If a user wants to validate network traffic is traversing Envoy, they will need both source traffic and traffic from the application at the same time. This is slightly different than application tracing, in the fact that a user in this scenario simply wants to verify that traffic has been received/dropped by Envoy because of configuration issues.
This issue will act as a parent to other child issues, where we can have discussions in this thread and more technical details in other issues/PRs.
