@DokterKaj Hi, this bug isn't present in the latest version available in this repo. Version in cinnamon repos is out of date and contains bugs.

@fredcw When will the version in the Cinnamon repos be updated?

I don't know, my PRs in the applets repo are no longer being accepted https://shorturl.at/Y5Rld

@fredcw That's a shame, Cinnamenu is by far the best applet in the repo and it would be sad to see it be left unmaintained due to such a disagreement.

You mentioned that you would be happy to keep comments if translators really found them useful and one translator did actually attest to that (it's the latest comment in the issue you linked; I won't link it directly since you probably masked it for a reason), so I believe that resolves the majority of the disagreement.

As for the Wikipedia language names thing, for what it's worth, I agree with you on this one; there's no need for language names to be translated since if a user is switching to a specific language then they would obviously already know how to read that language and what its name is.

Thanks. I will continue to keep Cinnamenu and CinnVIIStarkMenu applets updated on my own Github repos. I'll try to write a script to make these applets easier to install and update.

@fredcw I apologise if I'm stepping out of line, but from my point of view, this is what the situation looks like at the moment:

  • The other contributor would like you to keep the comments
  • You are willing to keep the comments if translators attest to their helpfulness
  • A translator has attested to their helpfulness

Both sides of the disagreement have effectively been resolved, so if there is anything else stopping you from keeping the comments and continuing development, I would like to know.

Once again, please do reconsider abandoning the main applet repo for good. It's likely the place where most users install Cinnamenu from and I wouldn't wish for the greater Cinnamon community to miss out on your work.
