Cannot Install gcloud components

I installed gcloud-sdk using

devbox add google-cloud-sdk@latest

Now, I have need to install the auth plugin, but I can't find any package, and the gcloud client complains

gcloud components install gke-gcloud-auth-plugin                                                                 

ERROR: (gcloud.components.install) You cannot perform this action because this Google Cloud CLI installation is managed by an external package manager.
Please consider using a separate installation of the Google Cloud CLI created through the default mechanism described at: https://cloud.google.com/sdk/

To make sure I am using the right version

which gcloud 
.....devbox/nix/profile/default/bin/gcloud
