Improve user tag suggestions/search

When I write a post, it is sometimes very hard to tag other users, since the suggested accounts have nothing to do with what I am looking for.
For instance, German Newspaper ND. Their handle is [email protected], their name ND.aktuell. I follow them for a long time and already wrote posts with them being tagged.
Even with @ndaktuel, the tag suggestions are complete strangers to me with not connection to the account. Only when writing @ndaktuell, it shows the correct profile. However, ideally, I would want this profile to be suggested already when writing @nd.

This does not necessarily happen with all accounts, but it happens very often to me. At the moment, the suggestions are suggesting complete strangers over accounts I have already a relationship with.

The same also applies when I am searching profiles. It is not really obvious to me why to search for @[email protected] - an account I follow - I need to fully spell out oocgensui, and with just ooc, not a single of the suggested accounts has any resemblance to this string?
