  • This is a bug, not a question or an enhancement.
  • I've searched for similar issues and didn't find a duplicate.
  • I've written a clear and descriptive title for this issue, not just "Bug" or "Crash".
  • I agree to follow Nextcloud's Code of Conduct.

Steps to reproduce

  1. configure server-side encryption (Hetzner SAAS) using defaul encryption module. No home encryption
  2. configure E2EE from linux nextcloud client Appimage 3.15.3
  3. store mnemonic phrase
  4. create and encrypt from linux client
  5. install latest android client from f-droid 3.30.7
  6. grant access to android client
  7. go to settings and try to save mnemonic phrase

Expected behaviour

it should sync keys and accept mnemonic phrase

Actual behaviour

it syncs keys and it fails saying "Error while decrypting. Wrong password?"

I encountered the same bug on the hardware & software configuration indicated below on an Android phone. My order of operations was the same as cited above: I activated file encryption on the Linux desktop client, and everything seemed to be working well until I tried to enter the mnemonic seed phrase into my NextCloud Files Android app. I VERY carefully tried typing the mnemonic into the text field, and I always received the same error message: "Error while decrypting. Wrong password?" Also, the NC Files app will NOT permit me to paste text into the field for entering the mnemonic seed phrase. I had to enter the seed phrase manually. After about 10 separate attempts, I realized it couldn't be a mnemonic typo issue.
