How to ad non-numeric proxies

I'm using paid proxies in the form of
"http://user-user-sessionduration-480:[email protected]:1000"
or
"http://user:[email protected]:1000"

I get this error:
proxy gate.smartproxy.com has invalid value or is not numeric
non-numeric ips are only allowed under the following circumstances:
chaintype == strict (true), proxy is not first in list (false), proxy_dns active (thread)

I have strict_chain, proxy in first line and proxy_dns active
