However if our eyes are very quick, we will notice that it first tantalizingly writes a much longer string, and then shortens it, right in front of our eyes.
Well that is fine and dandy.
Except there are 1.1% of we users who would like to get our hands on that longer string, without needing the fuss of using Linux HEAD(1) etc. to extract it back out. Or using Developer Tools.
So how about add a checkbox:
[x] No short URL, thank you.
And in fact the shortening happens before the user can get their hands on such a checkbox, so it is just one more shorturl wastefully produced.
