A document with answers for simple questions:

Which genome assembly / build do you use?

GRCh37/hg18

How preferred isoforms are determined?

First we check if we can link an isoform to a canonical isoform of a reviewed Uniprot entry (SwissProt). If there are two mRNA sequences mapped to the same canonical SwissProt isoform, we check length of the resulting polipeptide/protein and take the longer one. If lengths are equal, we chose this sequence which was added to RefSeq database earlier (with lower number in id).

I cannot find my favorite gene in the database? Why is that?

If you search for a gene named like GTF2L, make sure if it is not GTF2I - such mistakes happen.

If you are sure that the gene or protein of your interest is absent in the database it may be because we did not find a sequence without a premature stop codon. In any case, please contact us so we can help you with the particular gene/protein.
