This repository contains CouchDB design documents and Python scripts used for integrations between PeopleSoft, Destiny One, Desire2Learn, and Ares at the University of Calgary. The name of this repository is a misnomer.
The University of Calgary uses the Desire2Learn XML4 format to transmit people and course information to the Desire2Learn (D2L) Holding Tank. This integration system was originally created for the following two reasons.
- PeopleSoft can export the required information in IMS Enterprise format. This is similar to the D2L XML4 format, but requires some modifications.
- Course code, course description, and other pieces of data differ between PeopleSoft (the system of record) and what users are accustomed to in the context of the learning environment. Data transformations on the PeopleSoft exports are required to match user expectations.
The role of the integration system expanded during the Desire2Learn implementation project to include data from Destiny One for Continuing Education, and to export data to Ares for copyright management.
